Long Creek Dove Hunt: Fun despite the rain
On Sept. 19, 15 hunters and 12 guests gathered at the Long Creek dove field on the Andrew Pickens Ranger District of Sumter National Forest in South Carolina. Despite the rain, everybody had a great time, and the participants were extremely appreciative of the opportunity to hunt.
Seventeen volunteers from the Mountain Lakes Chapter donated their time, a barbecue meal and items for a raffle. Other partners were the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, the USDA Forest Service and Mark Cook with Wheelin’ Sportsmen.
“I want to recognize the Mountain Lakes Chapter for their contribution,” said Jeffrey Magniez, a biologist for Sumter National Forest. “Without their help, there would have been no Wheelin’ dove hunt.”
