Aluminum is everywhere. It's the most abundant metal in the Earth's crust. Try to imagine daily life without it. It's in your truck, GPS device, soda can, lawn chair — maybe even your turkey call.
Many game call manufacturers use aluminum in their pot-and-peg turkey calls, but some call makers have taken the common substance and housed it in innovative designs that stretch far beyond the basics.

Derby City Game Calls
Derby City's new Magnum Aluminum and Spur Aluminum friction calls have a pot shaped to resemble the inside cartridge chamber of a .44 Magnum handgun. The Magnum features large, round acoustic holes in the bottom of the chamber, while the Spur's acoustic holes are shaped like a turkey spur. Both calls are topped with a green, anodized aluminum-calling surface over a glass sounding board.
Derby City's parent company is First Quality Music, a musical instrument parts contractor. The wood used to make the calls' pots is the same musical-grade wood used in guitars for makers such as Gibson.
Using rare, expensive, refurbished woods is another attribute that gives Derby City Game Calls their distinctive sound. The Magnum Aluminum comes with their signature old-growth maple striker — wood reclaimed from buildings built using trees that date back to the early 1500s.

Unlike a traditional round call, Keystone's friction calls feature a patented wedge shape. The call's V-shaped chamber provides a wide range of tones. Play the top of the calling surface for deep tones; achieve higher-pitched notes when playing the bottom portion. An acoustic hole in the front side of the call projects the sound forward.
Keystone's Resonatur Glass call uses the company's large aircraft-grade aluminum Power Wedge frame paired with a bead-blasted glass calling surface. The Mini Wedge Aluminatur features a smaller chamber coupled with a conditioned aluminum calling surface.
