Shooters are the most avid sports enthusiasts around. According to the National Sporting Goods Association, target shooters outranked hunters in participation, albeit only by a percent, with 19.8 million folks heading to the range at least once a year.
Here's a cheap and easy project for any sporting clays shooter. It's a way to show your support for the activity or at the very least get your coworkers talking.
Materials
- shooting clay target
- sharp knife
- quartz clock movement with metal second, minute and hour hands
- hot glue or epoxy
- paper clip or small gauge flexible wire
- AA battery
Making time
- Mark the center of the shooting clay target.
- Using the tip of the knife, bore out the center of the clay target to the size of the center post on the quartz clock movement.
- Disassemble the quartz clock movement.
- Align the clock movement with the hole in clay target and reassemble.
- Secure the clock movement to the back of the target with glue.
- If necessary, bend the minute, hour and second hands to clear the face of the target.
- Create a hanging loop for the clock by using a pair of pliers and wire. Fasten the hanging loop with epoxy or hot glue to the lip of the clay target.
- Install the battery and set clock to correct time.
