Saving Clays

Shooting trap is a favorite pastime for my family and friends on our property in southern Missouri. As amateurs, we tend to miss a few pigeons. After a few rounds, we pick up the unbroken pigeons. They will not fly from our automatic thrower without breaking, but they will from a hand-thrower. Our young shooters really enjoy picking up the pigeons; it often escalates into a contest to see who can pick up the most.

While it may take a little time, it is definitely worth the effort. It saves us money and extends a fun day of shooting.

Thanks for the great shooting tip. With as many targets as I miss, you could extend your shooting for days. It’s great to hear how our NWTF members are introducing their children to the outdoors. Here’s another tip for young target shooters: clay pigeons make great BB gun targets.
