Beanstalker Deer Stand

The Beanstalker takes deer stands to new heights

This elevator-like mobile hunting stand, manufactured by New Height Technology of Alaxandria, Minn., can be towed behind a vehicle on the highway, as well as an ATV in the woods.

The Beanstalker climbs to 12 feet with a push of a button. “There hasn’t been a man lift created where the actual cylinder is the support and main power for the basket,” said inventor Larry Schultz, who has worked in hydraulics for more than 20 years. Schultz developed the stand for his 78-year-old father who could no longer climb into tree stands.
The wheels on the Beanstalker are not motorized, so it isn’t classified as a vehicle, which means anyone can hunt from it.

Wheelin Sportsmen Fishing Event

Wheelin’ anglers enjoyed an evening catching bass and bluegill at a private pond near Boise, Idaho.

Fishing event a “gem” for Wheelin’ members

Three Idaho sportsmen who use wheelchairs enjoyed an evening fishing trip on Aug. 15, thanks to their fellow Wheelin’ Sportsmen members. Jacob Van Hemelryck, his father Ernest Simmonsen and Jerry Robinson caught bass and bluegill on a private pond at Idaho Christian Children’s Ranch in the southwest part of the Gem State. Five other Wheelin’ members — Patrick Thomas, Fred Bartel, James Stone, Scott Hoyt and “Big Jim” Brewer — provided fishing assistance, transportation to the pond shore and a barbecue dinner.

Dove shoot provides day of fun in the field

The Wheelin’ Sportsman program, along with project partners Hunting with a Hero, Ridge Farmers Mutual of Ridge Spring, S.C., the South Carolina Forestry Commission and the Johnston, S.C., South State Cooperative, Inc., hosted 19 shooters for a day of dove hunting at the Forestry Commission’s Taylor Nursery in Trenton, S.C.
Hunters from the Wheelin’ Sportsmen program, Hunting with a Hero and the Wounded Warrior program from Augusta, Ga., gathered for a day of fun, food and fellowship.

After the successful hunt, shooters got a lesson in cleaning and dressing the birds, as well as a dinner of burgers and hot dogs, along with a few doves.
